Job Purpose

The Specialist will ensure the smooth, secure, and efficient operation of the bank’s server and storage infrastructure. This includes supporting virtual and physical environments, data protection systems, and storage technologies—aligned with CRDB’s core ICT pillars of security, high availability, scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily System Operations

   • Provide day-to-day support for servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems.

   • Conduct regular system health checks and respond to incidents promptly.

2. Performance Analysis

   • Analyze infrastructure performance metrics.

   • Forecast and plan for capacity enhancements and system upgrades.

3. Backup and Disaster Recovery

   • Design and maintain backup infrastructure for both physical and virtual systems.

   • Ensure backups are automated and include proper tape and replication management.

4. Infrastructure Optimization

   • Maintain high availability for servers and storage systems.

   • Monitor data replication and failover systems to ensure redundancy.

5. Problem Solving and Bottleneck Detection

   • Identify performance issues and collaborate with teams to resolve them.

   • Implement performance tuning and system fixes.

6. Automation and Scripting

   • Develop scripts to automate system tasks, reduce manual processes, and support Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) models.

7. Security and Provisioning

   • Provision servers with a focus on aligning with security baselines.

   • Apply operating system patches and updates in compliance with best practices.

8. Monitoring and Capacity Management

   • Track resource utilization across storage and server infrastructure.

   • Plan and execute necessary upgrades before systems reach capacity limits.

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a closely related field.

Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in server and storage infrastructure support.

Preferred Certifications (an added advantage):

• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

• VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

• Dell EMC Proven Professional

• CompTIA Server+

Technical Skills:

• Strong expertise in enterprise server technologies and storage arrays.

• Proficiency in VMware and other virtualization platforms.

• Good understanding of Storage Area Networks (SAN).

• Experience in both Linux and Windows Server environments.

• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery systems.
