Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SME Credit Officer to join our team. The role involves evaluating and managing credit applications while ensuring compliance with our Credit and Provisioning Policy and maintaining high standards in credit processes and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Assessment & Solution Development (30%)

• Analyze business and credit risks associated with providing banking products and services.
• Develop high-quality credit solutions that support timely and informed decision-making.
• Act as a key contact for credit management matters, working closely with accountants, solicitors, and other professionals.
• Sanction credit applications within personal discretion or escalate them for approval.

Risk Management & Business Collaboration (30%)

• Partner with Relationship Managers to assess and approve new and existing credit applications.
• Consult with the Head of Credit or sanctioning office for applications beyond individual approval limits.
• Attend customer meetings to address credit-related concerns and provide solutions.
• Support change management initiatives aimed at improving processes, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Review and sign facility letters while ensuring proper execution of credit documentation.

Portfolio Monitoring & Compliance (30%)

• Monitor customers’ financial data and ensure compliance with sanction conditions.
• Oversee risk reports and address control issues with Relationship Managers.
• Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and recommend corrective actions.

Team Collaboration & Development (10%)

• Support team leaders in performance management and staff development.
• Uphold and promote NBC’s guiding principles within the team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in loan appraisals, credit risk monitoring, or customer acquisition.
• Strong knowledge of NBC’s loan application process and industry-related developments.
• Experience in business-to-business financial services is an advantage.
