Bulyanhulu Gold Mine, a subsidiary of Barrick Gold, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Drill and Blast Engineer to strengthen its mining team. About the Role
As a Senior Drill and Blast Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing drilling and blasting operations in line with Barrick’s standards for safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship. You will play a vital role in ensuring that production targets are achieved while maintaining high levels of quality and compliance.
You will report directly to the Technical Service Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage drill and blast activities to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.

Develop and monitor drilling and blasting plans, schedules, and budgets.

Manage the performance of the drilling fleet to achieve productivity and efficiency targets.

Prepare and review drill plans, charge plans, and progress tracking for underground operations.

Monitor blast performance with a focus on fragmentation, overbreaks, and underbreaks.

Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality and availability of explosives and consumables.

Produce weekly and monthly performance reports, including KPI tracking and EOM reporting.

Provide technical expertise, support, and optimization strategies to improve cost efficiency.

Assist in training, mentoring, and supporting junior engineers and team members.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent) – registration as a professional engineer is required.

Valid Blasting Certificate (essential).

Mine Overseer’s or Captain Certificate of Competency is an added advantage.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in underground mining, with strong exposure to large-scale drilling and blasting operations.

Proven track record in managing drilling fleets under challenging underground conditions.

Experience as a Drill & Blast Coordinator is desirable.
