Job Purpose
The Research Officer will support field and laboratory studies aimed at identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in malaria vector species. The ultimate goal is to develop vector control strategies that lead to significant population suppression or local elimination of malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-
Study environmental, ecological, and operational factors related to malaria vector control.
-
Design tools to monitor mosquito populations from high to near-zero levels.
-
Identify weak points in mosquito life cycles for targeted interventions.
-
Test vector elimination strategies tailored to different contexts.
-
Analyze and interpret complex field and lab data.
-
Develop technical reports, research manuscripts, and policy briefs.

Present findings to scientific bodies and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s Degree in:
-
Entomology
-
Biology
-
Environmental Health
-
Epidemiology
-
Biotechnology & Laboratory Sciences
-
Or any related health science field
-
-
2–3 years of hands-on experience in:
-
Vector control
-
Entomological surveillance
-
Field-based health research
-
Technical Skills
-
Competence in mosquito sampling and identification techniques
-
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as R, Python, Stata, or similar
-
Experience working in rural or field settings under challenging conditions
Key Competencies

Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
-
Excellent written and oral communication abilities
-
Highly organized with attention to detail
-
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Solid understanding of malaria vector ecology and intervention methods
