The Ugavi Bora, Afya Bora (Better Supply, Better Health) Project aims to strengthen Tanzania’s public health supply chain and pharmaceutical services, ensuring sustainable access to safe, effective, and affordable health commodities. This project focuses on building local capacity to efficiently manage health supply chains and improving pharmaceutical services and regulatory systems.
JSI is currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) to provide strategic leadership, oversight, and technical guidance for the project. The DCOP will report to the Chief of Party (COP) and serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team, based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities

Define and implement the supply chain strategy for the project with measurable success indicators.

Oversee and manage technical supply chain activities, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Provide technical leadership to the project team on supply chain management.

Collaborate with the Chief of Party on work planning and execution.

Supervise report writing and project deliverables for the donor.

Lead and manage the technical team to ensure effective execution.

Supervise and assess the performance of senior staff, ensuring accountability systems are in place.

Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Director to ensure effective data-driven decision-making.

Ensure compliance with donor regulations and organizational policies.

Act as Acting Chief of Party (COP) in the absence of the COP, representing the project in administrative and financial matters.
Qualifications & Experience

Advanced degree in public health, supply chain management, business management, finance, or a related field.

Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with at least 8 years managing donor-funded projects in developing countries.

Experience leading large and complex health supply chain projects in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain or pharmaceutical management projects.

Strong expertise in supply chain innovation, product availability, visibility, and risk mitigation.

Proven ability to manage teams and implement large-scale projects within scope and budget.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Fluency in English (written and spoken).
