Internship Summary

IHI is inviting applications from qualified and dedicated Clinical Officer Interns to join its Clinical Trials Facility in Bagamoyo. This is a hands-on internship ideal for graduates looking to gain real-world experience in clinical research, community engagement, and medical care under a research setting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Participate in community sensitization and retention meetings

2. Treat patients as per National Standard Treatment Guidelines

3. Review laboratory results and resolve data queries

4. Attend both internal and external meetings related to study conduct

5. Support development of study SOPs and documents

6. Recruit, follow up, and retain study participants according to protocol

7. Ensure compliance with approved protocols and ethics

8. Oversee study procedures in line with ICH-GCP, NIMR, and TFDA standards

9. Foster trust and effective communication in all project areas

10. Assist engagement coordinators and maintain strong facility links

11. Support the community recruitment and sensitization process

12. Perform additional duties as directed by the project leader

Qualifications Required

• Diploma in Clinical Medicine

• Valid license to practice from the Medical Council of Tanganyika

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Basic digital skills (MS Office, data management tools)

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

• Strong interpersonal and team collaboration abilities

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Effective communication in English and Swahili
