Job Purpose
The Business Analyst SME will play a key role in analyzing and optimizing credit underwriting processes. This includes appraising customer businesses, structuring credit facilities, and ensuring high-quality loan approvals. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders to improve approval rates and maintain a high-performing loan book, all while ensuring strict adherence to credit policies and risk management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Credit Underwriting Functions
✔ Review credit applications submitted by business units and branches.
✔ Identify missing information and ensure compliance with credit policies.
✔ Prepare high-quality credit appraisal reports as per bank requirements.
✔ Advise business teams on appropriate credit structuring based on business nature and cash flow patterns.
✔ Work collaboratively with the Credit Department to resolve application issues.
✔ Conduct on-site visits to assess customer businesses, projects, and collateral securities.
2. Control & Reporting Functions
✔ Maintain a credit database and generate periodic reports on loan applications and decisions.
3. Capacity Building & Training
✔ Support capacity-building initiatives for Business Credit Committee (BCC) members.
✔ Ensure business teams are aligned with credit policies and lending strategies.
4. Policy & Procedure Review
✔ Participate in reviewing the Credit Policy and Credit Manual to align with regulatory and business developments.
✔ Contribute to the development of SME credit products based on market needs.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Banking & Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree and/or professional certifications (preferred but not mandatory).
- At least 3 years of experience in business lending as a bank officer with a proven track record.
Knowledge & Skills Required
✔ Strong understanding of bank credit products, services, and delivery channels.
✔ Knowledge of business sector performance, industry regulations, and competitive landscape.
✔ Familiarity with banking policies, procedures, and ethical requirements.
✔ Proficiency in financial analysis, trend analysis, and ratio analysis.
✔ Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
✔ Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
✔ Advanced Microsoft Word & Excel skills.
✔ Ability to work under pressure in a multidisciplinary environment.
