As part of our rebranding from Meliá Zanzibar to Gran Meliá Zanzibar, we seek an exceptional General Manager to lead our team and elevate our resort’s luxury hospitality experience.

Position: General Manager

As General Manager, you will play a key leadership role, directly supporting the Managing Director and overseeing all hotel operations. Your mission is to drive excellence, efficiency, and innovation across all departments, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and strong business performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Inspire – Motivate and manage high-performing teams, ensuring outstanding service quality and efficient workflows.
Operational Excellence – Oversee the smooth implementation of Meliá Hotels International policies and procedures, aligning them with strategic objectives.
Financial Performance – Analyze business results, optimize revenue streams, and maintain cost efficiency while upholding luxury service standards.
Guest Experience – Maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction, ensuring memorable experiences for all guests.
Stakeholder Relations – Manage relationships with property owners, investors, and key partners, demonstrating strong diplomacy and business acumen.
Talent Development – Implement strategies to attract, develop, and retain top hospitality talent, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Adaptability & Problem-Solving – Navigate operational challenges specific to Zanzibar, demonstrating resilience and innovative solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3–4 years of experience as a General Manager in an upscale resort.
  • Proven track record in managing luxury resorts, preferably in African destinations.
  • Strong expertise in hospitality operations, including guest services, revenue management, and team leadership.
  • Experience in high-end international hospitality brands.
  • Ability to manage relationships with property owners with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
  •  Knowledge of hotel management IT tools.
  •  Strong skills in Human Resources Management & Talent Development.
    Must be able to relocate and reside in Zanzibar.
