About EREA: The Energy Regulators Association of East Africa (EREA) was established in 2008 as an association of utility regulators. EREA includes members from the following organizations:

  • Authority for Regulation of Water and Energy Sectors (AREEN) – Burundi
  • Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) – Uganda
  • Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU)
  • Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) – Kenya
  • Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) – Tanzania
  • Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) – Rwanda
  • Zanzibar Utility Regulatory Authority (ZURA)

EREA aims to pool expertise in energy regulatory matters to:

  • Develop sound policies and legislation on energy regulation aligned with international trends and best practices.
  • Promote regional cooperation in energy infrastructure planning and capacity building.
  • Support sustainable energy projects and harmonize energy market structures.

EREA is seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Finance & Administration Officer.

Position Details:

Position Title: Finance & Administration Officer
Duty Station: EREA Secretariat Office, Arusha, Tanzania
Reporting To: Executive Secretary (ES)
Tenure: Two-year renewable contract (subject to performance)

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Guide and control EREA’s finances, including accounting, budgeting, cash flow, and taxation.
  2. Implement and maintain sound accounting procedures and controls.
  3. Ensure timely statutory payments to relevant authorities (e.g., TRA, PPF) and accurate tax filing.
  4. Manage petty cash reconciliation.
  5. Lodge company cheques at the bank.
  6. Prepare and present financial statements.
  7. Support donor funding management, including financial reporting and acknowledgements.
  8. Liaise with external auditors for compliance.
  9. Ensure compliance with EREA’s financial policies.
  10. Manage working capital requirements and inventory.
  11. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring effective cost management.
  12. Supervise support staff to maximize efficiency.
  13. Protect financial information and manage EREA’s documents securely.
  14. Produce weekly statistics and monthly reports on financial status for strategy meetings.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Secretary.

Minimum Academic Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
  2. CPA (T) certification (preferred) or progression towards certification.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  4. Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
  5. At least four years of relevant work experience.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Stable employment history in related roles.
  8. Tanzanian citizenship is required.
