Position Objective: The Senior ICT Officer is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the bank’s databases, ensuring database security, integrity, and performance. This role contributes to achieving the bank’s business goals by deploying databases efficiently and safeguarding critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Security & Monitoring:
  • Monitor and maintain database security at corporate, application, and other levels in collaboration with security experts.
• Database Integrity & Availability:
  • Ensure databases’ availability, integrity, and performance through proper monitoring and optimization.
• Data Management:
  • Extract system reports, create customized reports, and facilitate data sharing through key management and data dictionary maintenance.
• Database Maintenance:
  • Install, procure, and maintain database software and tools. Oversee backup, replication, restorations, and large data loads.
• Collaboration with Developers:
  • Assist application programmers with database-related installations and tuning. Support nightly banking system processing and adapt systems to user needs.
• Capacity Planning:
  • Plan database processing, storage, and backup capacities, ensuring smooth operations.
• Security & Access Management:
  • Grant and revoke access rights while ensuring compliance with security standards.
• Core Banking System Maintenance:
  • Ensure the core banking system operates efficiently, correcting software errors and adapting to necessary changes.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronic Science & Communication, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience:
  • At least six years of experience in database administration, preferably in the banking industry or financial institutions.
• Technical Skills:
  • Certified Oracle database and WebLogic administration.
  • Expertise in relational database management systems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, ASP, Visual Basic, and HTTP.
  • Familiarity with UNIX and Linux operating systems.
