Brief Description
VLIR-UOS awards ICP Connect Master’s scholarships to students from 30 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These scholarships enable students to attend one of the study programs taught in English at Flemish universities or universities of applied sciences and arts in Belgium.

The scholarships cover:
- Tuition fees
- Travel costs
- Insurance
- Living expenses (board and lodging)
VLIR-UOS provides full scholarships for the total duration of the Master’s Programme (12/24/36 months).
Eligibility Requirements
- Nationality and Residence: Candidates must be nationals of one of the 30 eligible countries and residents of these countries at the time of application.
- Age: Candidates for a bachelor or initial master program cannot be older than 35 as of 1 January of the intake year. For advanced masters, candidates cannot be older than 45. Bachelor candidates must be at least 19 years old by 1 January of the intake year.
- Professional Background: Preference is given to higher education, government, or civil society candidates or those targeting careers in these sectors. Candidates from the private sector or recent graduates with no work experience may also be considered if they have a strong motivation and profile.
- Scholarship Applications: Candidates may apply for only one ICP Connect scholarship annually.
- Previous Scholarships: Candidates must not have previously received a scholarship from the Belgian government or enrolled in a Belgian higher education institution before 1 January of the intake year.

- Program and Scholarship Application: Apply for both admission to the program and the scholarship through the university’s website. When applying for the program, indicate your wish to apply for the scholarship.
- Deadlines: The deadlines vary by program but are generally around 1 February or 28 February 2025. The deadline for the Master of Science in Tropical Biodiversity and Ecosystems is 30 November 2024.
