Operating in Tanzania since 2005, Good Neighbors works to empower communities and support sustainable development through education, health, livelihood improvement, and advocacy programs.

Position Overview

The IT Technical Support Officer will play a critical role in maintaining the organization’s technology infrastructure. This position involves managing and supporting all IT systems, hardware, and software while ensuring data security, optimal performance, and efficient service delivery. The role also involves staff training, vendor coordination, and contributing to IT policy development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. System Management & Maintenance

    • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain licensed software and operating systems (Windows 7/8/10, MS Office Suite).

    • Monitor performance of systems such as HR, Docswave, MS Teams, and QuickBooks Online.

    • Ensure backups and data recovery procedures are in place.

  2. Technical Support

    • Provide technical support for staff on computing resources.

    • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues quickly and effectively.

    • Recommend computer and equipment specifications for office use.

  3. IT Infrastructure & Security

    • Manage internet connectivity and liaise with service providers.

    • Maintain system security and ensure the integrity of organizational data.

    • Support website and email system maintenance.

  4. Training & Policy Implementation

    • Conduct staff training on common IT challenges and digital tools.

    • Contribute to IT policy development and enforce compliance.

  5. Inventory & Vendor Coordination

    • Work with asset management to maintain and update IT inventory.

    • Recommend disposal of obsolete IT equipment.

    • Build working relationships with IT vendors and service providers.

  6. Reporting & Documentation

    • Submit monthly reports on IT activities and issues resolved.

    • Test and evaluate new technologies and provide improvement recommendations.

    • Support social media and other digital communications tools.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in IT-related technical support roles.

  • Certifications: Professional IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft) are an added advantage.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong computer hardware/software knowledge.

    • Experience in troubleshooting network and system issues.

    • Familiarity with backup systems and cybersecurity best practices.
