Role Purpose
The Media Relations Manager – Advocacy & Research will play a key role in managing media strategies, building influential relationships, and delivering communications that strengthen Vodacom Tanzania’s advocacy goals and external image.
The successful candidate will work closely with the External Affairs, Legal & Regulatory departments to support initiatives such as:

Policy content development

Thought leadership forums

Media engagements (e.g., op-eds, press briefings, paper launches)
Key Responsibilities

Media Strategy Development
-
Design and implement media relations strategies aligned with advocacy and research campaigns.

Proactively seek media coverage to highlight Vodacom’s thought leadership and policy influence.

Media Relations & Coverage
-
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers.

Secure positive media exposure for major reports, events, and strategic announcements.

Research & Insight
-
Conduct research to support policy and communication strategies.

Analyze media trends to enhance message targeting and delivery.

Content Development

Prepare communication materials including press releases, talking points, briefings, and articles.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging across all channels.

Monitoring & Reporting

Track media coverage related to advocacy efforts.

Report on media trends, opportunities, and areas of reputational risk.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work with internal teams across Legal, Regulatory, and Marketing to align strategies.

Support intranet content and manage internal communication updates as needed.

Qualifications & Skills
Education

University Degree in:

Or a related discipline

Experience

Minimum of 3–5 years in a communications or media relations role

Proven ability to manage large-scale media campaigns and stakeholder engagement
Core Competencies

Experience writing compelling content for internal and external audiences

Skilled in managing media databases and writing briefs for agencies
