About the Role

BRAC International is seeking a dynamic Deputy Country Director—Programs (DCD-P) to lead programmatic excellence in Tanzania. This pivotal role drives the delivery of high-impact programs aligned with BRAC Tanzania’s Country Strategy. You’ll spearhead program design, foster team collaboration, and ensure resource mobilization to achieve transformative outcomes. As a key leader, you’ll build strong partnerships, represent BRAC with stakeholders, and deputize for the country director when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Shape and drive BRAC Tanzania’s program strategy for impactful results.
  • Champion BRAC’s vision, mission, and values to inspire a culture of excellence.
  • Act as the primary liaison with donors to secure funding and partnerships.
  • Contribute to senior management and country team strategy discussions.

Program Development & Implementation

  • Oversee high-quality program delivery in sectors like education, health, livelihoods, and empowerment.
  • Lead the creation of compelling concept notes and proposals to attract donor funding.
  • Manage program budgets and ensure alignment with community needs and BRAC’s principles.
  • Collaborate with government and grassroots organizations to amplify national impact.
  • Ensure robust compliance with organizational policies and donor standards.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

  • Develop and track program performance frameworks to measure success.
  • Lead quarterly program management team reviews to drive accountability.
  • Oversee assessments, research, and evaluations to produce timely, high-quality reports.
  • Implement audit and evaluation recommendations to strengthen programs.

Networking & Partnerships

  • Build and nurture relationships with government, donors, and sector stakeholders.
  • Represent BRAC Tanzania at national and international forums.
  • Strengthen partnerships and build capacity with local organizations for sustainable impact.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and learning within the Programs team.
  • Manage recruitment, training, and professional development to build a high-performing team.
  • Provide mentorship and performance evaluations to support staff growth.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in development, business, education, social sciences, or related fields. Postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in NGO or humanitarian program management, with significant field experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strategic thinking and creative problem-solving.
    • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and proposal-writing skills.
    • Proven expertise in financial management, budgeting, and donor compliance.
    • Strong understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems.
    • Ability to lead diverse teams and build stakeholder relationships.
